Tactile Iphone and Ipod screen covers

Hi, on another board, I expressed frustration at not getting a tactile Ipod screen cover from Solona.net that I'd orderd and paid for. Does anyone know where I can get similar products? I'm contemplating getting either an Iphone or Ipod. I've never used the touchscreen version of either. So I'm afraid there's gonna be a huge learning curve. Anything to make the process easier. Plus I don't wanna mess up my screen.

Hi

I blieve the guy running the site got sick or something. He did not bother letting anyone know of course, so I find this bad business practice. I paid for a screen cover too that I never recceived.
Just get a plain one.
Touch screens are not so bad, by swiping your finger to the right you treat the screen like a list and jump to the next item, swiping it to the left selects the previous one.
It is a bit of an adjustment, but less than I thought it would be.
Typing is a bummer on those devices though, and I use an external braille display or keyboard, but some folks are good at it.

Hi.
I have been working for the last several months on recreating the tactile screen protectors. Right now, we are finishing up the final testing. I have sent samples to the NFB convention in orlando, and I will have some at the ACB convention in reno. They will most likely be for sale in mass quantities on Monday July 18th, 2011.
If you want to be put on a list to be notified send me a private message with your name and email address and I'll send you an email when they are ready

Hi

When these are ready for shipping, please post a topic about it on this board, notify places like Blind Bargains and Flying Blind for inclusion in the Top Tech Tidbits.
Cheers

As someone using the prototype of the 3GS screen protector that Doug made, I'm going to say I'm very satisfied with the product. It's not necessary to have, but it does make your typing quicker and more accurate. Less guessing where something is on the screen.

Yeah, I'm planning to get one from Doug when they're ready. I never used one before, so this should be interesting. And, I believe Blind Bargains is already aware of these.

Yeah, I'd love a screen protector that's tactile. But, exactly what does it look like?...and how does it make typing easier?

Hi, all. JJ posted an email to the NFB listservs earlier today, saying that a limited number of the tactile screen protectors could be pre-ordered for pick up at NFB Convention in Orlando. I'm guessing the same is true for the ACB convention in Reno as well, but since I'm not part of any of the ACB listservs, I can't speak to that. Perhaps JJ could post here and let us know? Anyway, if you pre-order them for pick up at NFB convention, he said to enter the word, "Orlando," in the coupon code box when checking out. I don't know how to make a link clickable like Time Traveling Bunny, but the link I have for pre-ordering the protectors is as follows:

Ordered mine on Thursday so I'm excited to see if it will make my iPhone a bit more user-friendly. I'm sure it'll be here in a couple weeks, so I'll let you know.

Nice. I'll check out that link. I'm liking the positive feedback so far. I'd love to know in more detail how they make using an ipod or Iphone more accessible.

Are there any plans to make these for the touch screen Ipods as well?

What's the major difference between the basic and advanced models? For those of you who've bought these, what model do you like best and why?

Hello. Yes, Doug and I will have the protectors in Reno. The iPod Touch 4G should come in August some time. If you're looking for the 3G touch, please post here so we can see if there's enough interest.

I haven't used either model. My friend has an Ipod 3 G touch that she might give me. If not, I may end up buying the 4 g model. Keep us posted. and thanks for taking this project on.

We now have OtterBox protectors as well. Order on the atguys.com website or get them here in Reno.

ol, but I do still like it & I don't regret getting it. Good luck.

Ah crap. Hope you understood that. It screwed up my typing. Damn you, Pac Mate!

I'd buy one for an ipod 3g if they came out. Is it possible one for ipod 4g would work on 3g as well and just have a hole for a non-existent camera?

They're all slightly different sizes, jus enough to be different.

Post 22 by The SHU interpreter (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 17-Jul-2011 20:10:18

i did get the screen protector from atguys. and let me tell you it's pretty good. It's simple too. another thing, it's cheaper than the salona screen protectors. Ive had a friend who got one and she was pretty dissatisfied with the screen protector herself because she couldn't even feal the dots since the plastic wasn't sturdy enough. The tactile protector from AT guys helps me type faster though somewhat. Even then, i prefer the physical keyboard because it's faster

Just want to clarify. AT Guys are cool, but they a reseller, not the maker of them. they are actually made by a company in California called SpeedDots. Since I can't make the link clickable, it is:
http://www.speeddots.com

Post 24 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Tuesday, 19-Jul-2011 16:19:37

Exactly. We are the lead reseller, but not producer. But we do sell them of course. Happy to partner with SpeedDots as they have a great production process in place and using high-quality materials. And tay tuned, there's more to come.

I would like to see screen protectors and/or OtterBox cases for the iPod 3rd generation. Thanks.
